Pier 39 is an ideal destination when on a family trip to San Francisco, due to its central location and variety of museums, restaurants, ferry tours, and shopping, offering something for everyone in the family. Visitors can get here by public transportation, for example, with the F-Line cable car from Powell Street.

7D Experience at Pier 39 is a state-of-the-art digital theater with interactive video games for the entire family to enjoy. The Dark Ride is like playing a virtual reality video game while on a roller coaster. No reservations are necessary, and group and combo packages are available.

California Academy of Sciences | Golden Gate Park

California Academy of Sciences offers everything from a four-story rainforest exhibit to a planetarium and earthquake simulator. It is open seven days a week except for Thanksgiving and Christmas. The venue is located at 55 Music Concourse Drive at Golden Gate Park. Visitors can find free parking nearby, and a free park shuttle is available on weekends and holidays.

The San Francisco Zoo offers scavenger hunts, wild walks, bike tours, and overnight programs for families traveling with children. Discounts are available for guests who take public transportation to get to the zoo.

San Francisco Bay Cruise | Embarcadero

The San Francisco Bay Cruise offers panoramic views of the skyline as well as the Golden Gate Bridge and Alcatraz. The one-hour-long tour departs from Pier 39 every 30 minutes, and no reservations are required. The kids can also get a glimpse of Pier 39's famous sea lions.
